Drawing is such a great skill and talent to have when you're a cardmaker... but not all of us are gifted with the ability to draw.
If you're like me who is not very confident with my drawing skills, I have the perfect trick that can help us whenever we want to put a drawing on a card project!
I have this children's book called 'Miffy in Hospital' which has adorable illustrations inside. I thought the cute rabbit illustration would work well for a Get Well Soon card, but I wanted to avoid ripping the page to cut out the picture.
So let's draw it ourselves instead! Keep reading as I share with you how I'm able to replicate a drawing easily!
Just keep tracing until you finish the whole illustration. This makes me feel like I'm in kindergarten all over again!
Once you have the traced drawing, flip it over and place on top of a white cardstock as seen below.
Let's go back to the tracing paper and cut out the dress part with scissors. We'll use it to trace the shape on a colored cardstock which we will also cut out. I used a bright orange one that is exactly the same as the one in the original illustration. I love this color!
Now we'll use a marker to trace the outlines on the white card as well as the dress shape. I used a thick black marker to create the exact lines as seen in the book's picture.
Once you've finished tracing the outlines, we can adhere the dress to the whole image with some pop up adhesives.
Just place it directly where the dress outline is. How cute is that?
To complete the look, I just mounted it on the same orange cardstock and added my Get Well Soon sentiments.
It's so adorable!
I hope this cheat technique for drawing in your cards help you for your next projects! I really had fun tracing the illustration and building up the card, I'm sure you will too!
