Celebrate a Romantic Wedding By Making These Amazing Wedding Card Ideas!
Given how special the occasion is, coming up with wedding card ideas to make can sometimes be a little difficult. After all, this is one card that will most likely be kept for quite some time. One thing is for certain, you can't go wrong with a romantic theme when it comes to wedding card ideas to make. This is a green light to use love hearts, soft colors, flowers, cute imagery, and sentiments with love in mind.

To help you along with your wedding card ideas to make, here are 8 romantic card ideas for weddings that you can make yourself, adding your own personal touches.

#1 - Simple yet elegant

handmade wedding card
This is my favorite of these eight wedding card ideas to make. The reason for this is that it was super easy to create yet the simple design and white space give it a sense of elegance.

Starting with a peach colored piece of cardstock, I cut my card into a slimline size and shape. The next element was a rectangle of smooth, white cardstock cut slightly smaller than the front of the card. This was adhered onto the front with double-sided foam squares to make it pop out a little. Although you can't see it very well in the photograph, the smooth white cardstock contrasts nicely with the textured finish of the base.

The hearts were cut from the leftover cardstock used to create the base and the bow was created from a scrap piece of chiffon that was just the right color. I keep a material scrap box as well as a paper scrap box and it really comes in handy for various craft projects!

Finally, the card was finished off with a sticker that simply said, ''Love''.

#2 - Love grows

Use the initial of the bride and groom for for a more personalized wedding card
This wedding card idea to make focuses on the theme that love is something that grows. Although I have chosen to keep the color scheme simple for this one, I would love to see this card created using a rainbow of bright colors or maybe even with a soft pastel-colored theme.

Starting with a brown textured cardstock base for an earthy feel, the trunk of the tree was hand-drawn lightly onto white paper and cut out with a small pair of scissors before adhering to the card with a glue stick. The cute little love hearts were created with a mini paper punch ... there was no way I was going to cut them out individually by hand. Craft paper punches are great right!

The trick to getting glue on these tiny hearts without making a mess is to leave the lid off your glue stick, and just kind of wipe the tiny heart over the tip before placing it on the card.

The letters were pulled from a sticker sheet and consists of the couple's initials plus the date of marriage.

#3 - Wedding attire

This wedding card idea to make focuses on the wedding attire with a pair of cute love hearts dressed up in their finest. Beginning with a white cardstock base, I raided my scrap basket to find a soft, glittery (although you can't see this in the photo) paper for the strip along the top and bottom. This strip was cut with a pair of decorative edge scissors.

The dressed-up hearts were created by layering the black and white pieces as necessary, however, due to the fiddly nature of the tuxedo, the bowtie and buttons were drawn on with a black marker.

To finish this card off, I added some letter stickers to read "Mr" and "Mrs".

#4 - Layering of hearts

Add dimension to your card design by layering your embellishments
This wedding card idea to make features no less than four love hearts, with each layer cut slightly smaller than the layer underneath. The top two hearts were adhered with double-sided foam squares to give the card a little bit of depth. All of the hearts were centered on a soft-colored floral background.

The flowers were a DIY printable that I colored in myself with Derwent Inktense pencils and these were also adhered with double-sided foam squares.

Finally, the card was finished off with a sticker featuring the word, "love".

#5 - Red roses

This wedding card idea is a little bolder than the other ideas, with a red color scheme and a pretty red rose pattern. Starting with a bright red cardstock base, the next layer features a print of pretty red roses. It was cut slightly smaller than the card front so that the card base left a border around the patterned piece.

A red rectangle was cut for the centerpiece and finished off with a paper punch designed to create decorative corners. Three circles were also cut from a paper punch featuring the red roses from the background pattern.

Finally, the card was finished off with some letter stickers that spelled the word "love," and some soft swirls were drawn on with a silver paint pen.

#6 - Bride and groom puzzle pieces

This wedding card idea represents the joining of the happy couple with the symbolism of two puzzle pieces joined together.

Starting with a blank cardstock base, I covered the entire front of the card with a cute purple print featuring romantic phrases written on it in cursive writing. The puzzle pieces themselves were hand-drawn and cut out with a small pair of scissors and I decorated a ''neckline'' onto them with a marker to indicate the bride and groom.

Of course, I had to include a love heart in the background to add a touch of romance!

#7 - Soft hearts and butterflies

This wedding card idea to make features soft colors, hearts, and butterflies. When searching for some pretty patterns to use for this idea, I came across a sheet of paper featuring soft blue and violet flowers with two butterflies in the bottom corner of the page. It was just perfect for this project!

The butterflies were cut out to use as the main feature embellishments and love hearts of different sizes were cut from the remaining paper and scrap white paper. All of this was mounted onto a white cardstock square base and finished off with some swirls from a gold paint pen.

#8 - Washi tape and newspaper print

I just love washi tape so I try to sneak it into nearly every project I work on. With this wedding card idea to make, I was able to include it in the form of a bold, glittery border.

Starting with a plain white cardstock base, a second layer was added using a patterned paper that features a re-print of an aging newspaper. Yet another smaller white layer was added and it's on top of this layer that the washi tape border was rolled out.

Finally, the card was finished off with a sticker reading "love, love, love" and some other small embellishments.
